ALL MIGRANT WORKERS RETURNING TO UTTAR PRADESH TO BE QUARANTINED

As the second wave of COVID-19 in India goes from bad to worse, several states have started imposing restrictions like curfews, and lockdowns, in order to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. These states include Maharashtra, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat, Haryana, Odisha, Uttarakhand, Kerala, Jammu & Kashmir, and Chandigarh. As a result, the migrant workers gave started returning from cities like Mumbai & Delhi to their home states. For migrant workers returning to Uttar Pradesh, quarantine has been made mandatory. The State Government has set up quarantine centers in 56 districts. In all these centers, the migrant workers will be firstly tested for COVID-19 and if they don’t have quarantine facilities at their homes, then they will be kept in the quarantine centers for 14 days. Even the surveillance at bus stops, airports & railway stations has been ramped up and those having COVID symptoms are being tested and asked to go under home quarantine. Also, all the devotees/travelers returning from Haridwar Kumbh Mela will undergo screening, and those who tested positive must go for isolation. If they can isolate themselves at home safely, then the same will be asked to follow. Taking an RT-PCR test will be mandatory for all migrant workers. This testing facility is available in all the districts of the state. After successful completion of the 14-day monitoring at the isolation centers, the migrant workers will be sent to their homes via State Transport Buses. The state government has also released allowances for migrant workers, pensioners, street vendors, and others.
